Powered directly by the host inverter with no external power supply required, it installs quickly into the inverter's communication slot and operates reliably across a wide -20°C to +60°C temperature range.

Broad SMA Product Compatibility & Simple Installation: Designed for plug-in installation into the standard communication expansion slot found across a wide range of SMA Sunny Boy, Sunny Tripower, and other compatible inverter platforms, the SWDM-US-10-00.01 requires no special tools, configuration software, or technical expertise to install — with SMA's step-by-step installation guide enabling most installers to complete commissioning in minutes.

How It Works

Once inserted into the inverter's communication expansion slot, the SWDM-US-10-00.01 immediately begins exchanging operating data with the inverter's internal controller via the Speedwire protocol. This data — including DC input power, AC output power, grid voltage, frequency, daily yield, total yield, and fault codes — is both stored locally in the card's onboard log and transmitted over the site's Ethernet or Wi-Fi network to SMA's Webconnect cloud portal, where it is processed, visualized, and made available to system owners and installers in real time and as downloadable historical reports.

Speedwire Communication Protocol: SMA's Speedwire protocol provides a dedicated, high-speed communication channel between the datalogging card and the inverter's internal data bus — ensuring reliable, low-latency data capture at regular intervals without interfering with the inverter's primary power conversion functions, and supporting multi-inverter network topologies where multiple Speedwire devices communicate on the same local network segment.

EG4 off-grid base kit, Happy with my purchase.

This is the first stage of my three planned purches. I got the eg4 inverter 6000 XP base kit with six 400 watt panels and the two server rack batteries. Did a little online research and followed the instructions and it got set up without any issues. Right now I'm just running it in my garage on a single outlet and have been running dual 750 watt water distillers with it. Once I get the second inverter and a bunch more panels and batteries, I plan on attaching it to my subpanel in my house that has my lights and outlets and appliances on it. Then I'll get a soft start for my AC and blower and run it on my main panel.
