This Waaree Bi-55-520 module converts sunlight into usable DC power using high efficiency mono PERC cells. Light strikes the 182 mm monocrystalline cells on the front glass and generates an electric current. At the same time, diffuse and reflected light reaches the rear glass surface and adds extra power through bifacial gain. The half cut cell layout reduces resistive losses and improves shade tolerance. Current from all cells is collected within the split junction box and delivered through MC4 compatible connectors. A suitable inverter then converts the DC power into AC electricity for on site use or grid export.
Bifacial dual glass light capture: The module uses 2.0 mm low iron glass on both sides to allow light entry. The front side captures direct irradiance, while the rear side collects reflected light from the ground or roof. This design can raise effective module efficiency significantly in well designed installations. Rear side gains between 15% and 30% are achievable depending on surface albedo and mounting height.
Half cut mono PERC cell architecture: The 144 half cut cells are arranged in a 12x6 plus 12x6 layout for improved performance. Each full cell is divided to lower operating current and reduce resistive losses. The PERC structure enhances light trapping and boosts conversion efficiency. This design also improves shade tolerance because the module behaves like two parallel strings.
Thermal and electrical optimization: The module is engineered with favorable temperature coefficients for hot climates. Power loss is limited to around -0.35% per degree Celsius above STC cell temperature. Voltage and current behavior is predictable across changing conditions, simplifying string design. The 1500 V maximum system voltage allows longer strings and reduced balance of system costs.
