A065M392 | Open Transition | 2-Pole | Non-Service Entrance | 240V System Voltage
The Cummins RSS100 100 Amp NSE (Non-Service Entrance) 240V 1-phase Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) delivers reliable backup power for homes and light commercial sites. This compact unit handles 100 Amps of continuous load without requiring service entrance ratings. It ensures seamless switching between utility and generator sources during grid failures. The automatic transfer functionality protects critical systems by maintaining uninterrupted service. Its design prioritizes efficiency and reliability for residential energy needs. Homeowners trust this switch for its UL 1008 listing and NEC compliance. The compact footprint allows easy integration into smaller electrical spaces. It pairs perfectly with Cummins backup generators for optimal performance.
Seamless Power Transfer: Automatically switches loads between utility and generator power during outages without user intervention.
Compact Design: Features a small footprint that fits easily into limited spaces for residential and light commercial installations.
Non-Service Entrance Rated: Ideal for installations downstream of the main service panel where service entrance rating is not required.
24/7 Utility Monitoring: Continuously monitors utility power quality to detect unsatisfactory voltage or frequency conditions instantly.
Code Compliant Safety: UL 1008 listed and NEC compliant to ensure safe installation and operation per national standards.
The Cummins RSS100 ATS operates as an open transition transfer switch for standby power systems. It monitors utility power continuously to detect failures or voltage anomalies. When utility power fails, the controller signals the generator to start automatically. Once the generator reaches stable voltage, the switch transfers the electrical load to the generator source. This process requires no action from the user. When utility power returns to stable levels, the switch automatically retransfers the load back. The system then allows the generator to cool down before shutting off. This cycle ensures continuous power availability during grid disruptions.
Utility Power Monitoring: The controller checks voltage and frequency 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. It identifies unsatisfactory power conditions immediately to trigger the backup sequence.
Break-Before-Make Action: The mechanism uses independent break-before-make action for 2-pole single phase switches. This prevents simultaneous closing of normal and emergency contacts to avoid short circuits.
Mechanical Interlock: A powerful solenoid drives the mechanically interlocked contactor mechanism. This interlock physically prevents both normal and emergency contacts from closing at the same time.
