A075F137 | Open Transition | 225 Amp | 3-Phase | 480V System Voltage
The Cummins OTEC 225 Amp NSE (Non-Service Entrance) 480V 3-phase Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) is designed for commercial and industrial applications requiring reliable and efficient backup power. With a 225 Amp capacity, this ATS provides seamless automatic transfer between utility and generator power during outages, ensuring uninterrupted service for critical systems. The 480V 3-phase configuration allows for balanced energy distribution, making this switch ideal for high-demand, 3-phase installations. This robust unit features open transition technology to safely disconnect loads before reconnecting to a new power source. It is suitable for emergency, legally required, and optional standby applications. The integrated controller ensures practical functionality with LED indicators for real-time status monitoring. Digital pushbuttons allow operators to easily activate control tests and exercise timing. Maintenance is simplified through single-plug harness connections and field-programmable controls. No tools are required for door-mounted control adjustments. This switch monitors both power sources continuously to detect utility failures instantly. It signals generator startup automatically to prepare for power transfer. The system returns the load to primary power once stable utility voltage is confirmed. Heavy-duty silver alloy contacts ensure long-term durability without routine maintenance. Multi-leaf arc chutes effectively manage high-energy arcs during switching operations. Barriers separate phases to prevent dangerous interphase flashover incidents. A transparent cover allows visual inspection while blocking accidental contact. This transfer switch is UL 1008 certified for high endurance switching capability.
High Current Capacity: The 225 Amp rating supports heavy industrial loads and large commercial facilities effectively.
Open Transition Safety: Break-before-make action completely disconnects loads to prevent source-to-source connections safely.
Microprocessor Control: Advanced microprocessor control ensures precise monitoring and automatic response to power fluctuations.
Easy Operator Interface: LED displays and digital pushbuttons simplify testing, timing adjustments, and manual operations.
Low Maintenance Design: Heavy-duty silver alloy contacts and arc chutes require no routine contact maintenance.
The Cummins OTEC transfer switch continuously monitors both the primary utility power and the standby generator set. When the utility power fails or becomes unstable, the controller signals the generator to start immediately. Once the generator reaches a stable operating state, the switch automatically transfers the electrical load to the generator source. This ensures that critical systems remain powered without interruption during utility outages. The process is fully automated and managed by the integrated microprocessor controller. When the utility power returns and stabilizes, the system detects this change automatically. The controller then initiates the retransfer process to move the load back to the primary utility source. This return happens smoothly to prevent any sudden power disruptions for connected equipment. The entire cycle is designed for reliability and rapid response in emergency situations. Open transition timing can be adjusted to disconnect the load completely for a programmed period. This feature is recommended by NEMA MG-1 for safe transfer of inductive loads like motors. The switch incorporates both electrical and mechanical interlocks to prevent accidental source interconnection. These safety features ensure that power never flows between the two sources simultaneously.
Automatic Monitoring: The controller constantly checks voltage, frequency, and phase rotation of both power sources.
Generator Start Signal: Upon detecting utility failure, the switch sends an immediate signal to start the backup generator.
Load Transfer: The mechanism opens the utility connection and closes the generator connection to transfer the load.
Utility Return Detection: The system waits for stable utility power before initiating the return transfer to primary source.
Mechanical Interlocking: Physical and electrical locks prevent both sources from connecting at the same time accidentally.
