What is power factor and why does it matter?
Power factor (PF) is the ratio of real power (kW) to apparent power (kVA). Resistive loads have PF=1.0, motors have PF=0.7-0.85. Lower PF means you need a larger generator to deliver the same usable power.
How do I convert kVA to kW?
Multiply kVA by power factor: kW = kVA x PF. A 22kVA generator at PF=0.8 delivers 17.6kW of real power.
