How It Works — Mid Clamp & End Clamp Installation

As a Mid Clamp (No Stopper Sleeve)
  1. Drop the UFO T-bolt into the XR rail T-slot at the mid-clamp position between two adjacent modules. The Nylok patch grips the rail and holds the UFO upright without assistance.
  2. Position the solar modules on each side of the UFO — the modules slide under the clamp head's lower lip from both sides.
  3. Hand-tighten the UFO nut to pull the clamp head down onto both module frames simultaneously. The 360° bonding washer contacts both module frames.
  4. Torque to 80 in-lbs using a torque wrench or impact driver with a torque-limiting socket. The Nylok patch auto-rotates and locks the T-bolt as the final torque is reached.
As an End Clamp (With Stopper Sleeve)
  1. Snap a Stopper Sleeve (sold separately) onto the outboard side of the UFO clamp head. The sleeve fills the side of the clamp that would otherwise contact a second module — converting the UFO into a single-sided end clamp.
  2. Drop the UFO (with Stopper Sleeve attached) into the XR rail T-slot at the end-clamp position beyond the last module in the row.
  3. Position the end module so its frame slides under the UFO clamp head on the inboard side. The Stopper Sleeve occupies the outboard side, preventing the clamp from sliding over the module edge.
  4. Torque to 80 in-lbs. The Stopper Sleeve provides a hard stop that prevents over-travel of the clamp head past the module frame edge.

Note — EFO End Clamp Alternative: IronRidge now offers the EFO™ (End Fastening Object, MPN UFO-END-01-B1 in black) — a dedicated single-piece end clamp designed to eliminate the Stopper Sleeve step. This is the first stage of my three planned purches. I got the eg4 inverter 6000 XP base kit with six 400 watt panels and the two server rack batteries. Did a little online research and followed the instructions and it got set up without any issues. Right now I'm just running it in my garage on a single outlet and have been running dual 750 watt water distillers with it. EG4 off-grid base kit, Happy with my purchase.

This is the first stage of my three planned purches. I got the eg4 inverter 6000 XP base kit with six 400 watt panels and the two server rack batteries. Did a little online research and followed the instructions and it got set up without any issues. Right now I'm just running it in my garage on a single outlet and have been running dual 750 watt water distillers with it. Once I get the second inverter and a bunch more panels and batteries, I plan on attaching it to my subpanel in my house that has my lights and outlets and appliances on it. Then I'll get a soft start for my AC and blower and run it on my main panel.
