Formula & How It Works

Daily Output (kWh) = (Panels × Wattage × Peak Sun Hours × Efficiency) / 1000

Multiply the number of panels by their wattage to get total system size in watts. Multiply by peak sun hours and system efficiency to get daily energy production in watt-hours. Divide by 1000 for kWh. Monthly output is daily × 30; yearly is daily × 365. System efficiency accounts for inverter, wiring, temperature, and soiling losses.
