How It Works

The Cummins OTEC transfer switch monitors both utility and generator power sources continuously. When utility power is interrupted, the controller signals the generator set to start immediately. The switch then automatically transfers the electrical load to the generator set for uninterrupted operation. Once a stable utility source returns, the system retransfers the load back to the primary power source. This open transition design ensures the load is completely disconnected from both sources for a programmed time period. This break-before-make action prevents any interconnection between the two power sources during the transfer process.

Open Transition Timing: Programmed transition timing can be adjusted to disconnect the load fully as recommended by NEMA MG-1 for inductive loads.

Manual Operation Capability: Shielded termination and over-center contact mechanisms allow effective manual operation under deenergized conditions if needed.

Mechanical Holding Action: The mechanism is electrically operated but mechanically held in Source 1 and Source 2 positions for secure stability.

EG4 off-grid base kit, Happy with my purchase.

This is the first stage of my three planned purches. I got the eg4 inverter 6000 XP base kit with six 400 watt panels and the two server rack batteries. Did a little online research and followed the instructions and it got set up without any issues. Right now I'm just running it in my garage on a single outlet and have been running dual 750 watt water distillers with it. Once I get the second inverter and a bunch more panels and batteries, I plan on attaching it to my subpanel in my house that has my lights and outlets and appliances on it. Then I'll get a soft start for my AC and blower and run it on my main panel.
