How It Works

The Cummins RSS200 operates by continuously monitoring utility power levels 24 hours a day. When voltage becomes unsatisfactory or fails completely, the controller signals the generator to start. The switch then transfers the electrical load to the backup generator source automatically. Once stable utility voltage returns, the system switches the load back to the utility line. This entire process requires no manual action from the user, ensuring true automation. The open transition mechanism guarantees a break-before-make action to prevent source interconnection. Mechanical interlocks prevent simultaneous closing of normal and emergency contacts for safety.

Utility Monitoring: The device scans utility power constantly to detect unsatisfactory conditions or total failure instantly.

Generator Start Signal: Upon detecting failure, the microprocessor controller immediately signals the generator engine to start.

Load Transfer: The mechanically interlocked contactor transfers the load to the generator using break-before-make action.

Utility Restoration: When stable voltage returns, the switch automatically reverts the load from generator to utility power.

This is the first stage of my three planned purches. I got the eg4 inverter 6000 XP base kit with six 400 watt panels and the two server rack batteries. Did a little online research and followed the instructions and it got set up without any issues. Right now I'm just running it in my garage on a single outlet and have been running dual 750 watt water distillers with it. Once I get the second inverter and a bunch more panels and batteries, I plan on attaching it to my subpanel in my house that has my lights and outlets and appliances on it. Then I'll get a soft start for my AC and blower and run it on my main panel.
