The EG4® FlexBOSS18 is a powerful all-in-one 13kW hybrid sine wave inverter engineered for residential and small commercial solar applications. Supporting up to 18kW of solar PV input across dual MPPTs at up to 600VDC, it delivers 13kW of continuous AC output when grid- or PV-connected, and 10kW in battery-only operation. Featuring a 120/240Vac split-phase transformerless design, built-in Rapid Shutdown (RSD), NEMA 4X outdoor-rated enclosure, and closed-loop battery communication, the FlexBOSS18 offers professional-grade performance with the flexibility to run fully off-grid, grid-tied, or in hybrid mode — all backed by a 10-year warranty.

Built-In Rapid Shutdown (RSD): NEC 2020 §690.12 and CSA C22.2#330:2017 compliant RSD is integrated directly into the unit, simplifying permitting and reducing additional hardware costs for rooftop installations.

Scalable Parallel Operation: Up to 10 FlexBOSS18 units can be stacked in parallel, allowing system capacity to scale up to 130kW of continuous AC output for larger commercial or multi-building applications.

NEMA 4X Outdoor-Rated Enclosure: The rugged NEMA 4X-rated housing protects internal components from dust, water ingress, and corrosion — suitable for outdoor wall-mount installation in demanding environments.

10-Year Warranty & Remote Monitoring: Backed by a full 10-year manufacturer warranty and compatible with the EG4 app and EG4 Monitor platform for real-time remote monitoring and software-based adjustment via plug-in Wi-Fi.

How It Works

The FlexBOSS18 continuously monitors solar production, battery state, grid availability, and load demand to manage power flow automatically. PV energy is prioritized for loads, with excess used to charge batteries or export to the grid. When solar is insufficient, the battery and grid seamlessly supplement — with a fast 10–20ms transfer time ensuring no interruption to connected loads.

Transformerless Sine Wave Topology: The high-frequency, transformerless design achieves up to 97.5% PV-to-load efficiency while significantly reducing weight and physical size compared to traditional transformer-based inverters.

Closed-Loop Battery Communication: Communicates via CAN/RS485 with EG4 48V lithium batteries and other compatible brands, enabling precise state-of-charge monitoring and optimized charge/discharge control.

90A Grid Bypass & Pass-Through: A dedicated 90A grid bypass allows utility power to flow directly to loads independent of the inverter's rated output, supporting high-draw appliances like HVAC or EV chargers without overloading the inverter.

EG4 off-grid base kit, Happy with my purchase.

This is the first stage of my three planned purches. I got the eg4 inverter 6000 XP base kit with six 400 watt panels and the two server rack batteries. Did a little online research and followed the instructions and it got set up without any issues. Right now I'm just running it in my garage on a single outlet and have been running dual 750 watt water distillers with it. Once I get the second inverter and a bunch more panels and batteries, I plan on attaching it to my subpanel in my house that has my lights and outlets and appliances on it. Then I'll get a soft start for my AC and blower and run it on my main panel.
