How It Works
The JSUN 285 Polycrystalline Solar Panel converts sunlight into usable electricity through the photovoltaic effect. When solar photons strike the polycrystalline silicon cells, they excite electrons within the semiconductor material. This movement of electrons creates a direct current that flows through the panel's internal wiring. An external inverter then converts this direct current into alternating current for home or grid use. The panel's design minimizes energy loss through high-quality cell connections and low-resistance pathways. Its 3.2 mm thick glass protects the cells while allowing maximum light transmission. The junction box diodes ensure current flows only in one direction to prevent power loss from shading. This process happens continuously during daylight hours to provide consistent renewable energy.
Photon Absorption: Solar photons hit the polycrystalline cells and excite electrons to start the flow. This initial energy transfer creates the voltage potential needed for power generation.
Current Generation: Excited electrons move through the silicon structure to create a direct current. This current flows through the 4 mm² cables to the external connection point.
Diode Protection: Three junction box diodes prevent reverse current flow during partial shading. This protection ensures that unshaded cells continue to produce power efficiently.
