How It Works

Inside the LUM 12170 panel, multiple polycrystalline silicon cells convert sunlight into usable DC electricity. Each cell contains many silicon crystals that together form a semiconductor junction. When light hits the surface, photons transfer energy to electrons inside the silicon lattice. These energised electrons move across the internal electric field and create a direct current flow. Cells are connected electrically in series and parallel to achieve the desired voltage and current output. The resulting power leaves the panel through junction box connections and attached cables. A solar charge controller regulates this power before it reaches the battery bank or inverter. The anti-reflection coated glass reduces light loss and improves energy harvest throughout the day. EVA encapsulant, backsheet and frame provide mechanical support and protect the circuit from the environment. Over its lifetime, the module continues generating clean energy whenever adequate sunlight is available.

Photovoltaic energy conversion: Polycrystalline cells act as semiconductors that absorb sunlight and release electrons. These electrons flow through metal contacts and external conductors, forming a steady DC output for your system.

EG4 off-grid base kit, Happy with my purchase.

This is the first stage of my three planned purches. I got the eg4 inverter 6000 XP base kit with six 400 watt panels and the two server rack batteries. Did a little online research and followed the instructions and it got set up without any issues. Right now I'm just running it in my garage on a single outlet and have been running dual 750 watt water distillers with it. Once I get the second inverter and a bunch more panels and batteries, I plan on attaching it to my subpanel in my house that has my lights and outlets and appliances on it. Then I'll get a soft start for my AC and blower and run it on my main panel.
