    How It Works

    The REC640AA Pro MG panel converts sunlight into usable DC electricity using high efficiency heterojunction cells. Each cell uses a crystalline silicon wafer combined with thin amorphous layers to improve carrier collection and limit losses. The panel is bifacial, so both the front and rear glass surfaces can capture light that strikes the module. When irradiance hits either side, electrons are excited within the cells and driven into the integrated busbar grid. The connected cells form strings that feed current to the junction box, where bypass diodes protect the module under partial shading. The DC output then flows through DC cabling to an inverter, where it is converted into AC power for building loads or export to the grid.

    Heterojunction cell architecture: HJT cells combine n-type crystalline silicon with thin film layers on both sides. This architecture reduces recombination losses and supports higher open circuit voltage and efficiency. Because n-type wafers are used, light induced degradation is greatly reduced compared with many p-type cells.

    Bifacial energy capture: The glass-glass construction allows light to reach the rear cell surfaces. Reflected and diffuse light from the roof or ground increases current generation, especially on bright or reflective surfaces. This additional rear side contribution can raise total energy yield beyond the front rated power in optimized layouts.

    Twin design and bypass protection: The module uses REC’s split or twin layout, dividing the panel into two electrically independent halves. This configuration helps increase energy harvest under partial shade or soiling, because one half can continue producing when the other half is affected. Three integrated bypass diodes in the IP68 junction box further protect against hot spots and mismatch.
