How It Works

The Shenzhou New Energy SZ-100-MBC 100W monocrystalline solar panel converts sunlight into usable DC power for 12V systems. Each of the 36 monocrystalline cells generates a small amount of electrical energy when exposed to light. These cells are wired in series within the module so the voltages add together, reaching a suitable level for efficient charging. At standard test conditions, the panel delivers a maximum power of 100 Wp at 20.88 V and 4.79 A. This output is routed through the integrated IP67 junction box and then into a compatible charge controller, battery, or inverter system. In a typical off‑grid setup, one or more panels connect to a charge controller, which regulates charging of a 12V battery bank. From there, DC loads can be powered directly or an inverter can provide AC power for conventional appliances.

Monocrystalline cell energy conversion: The panel uses high quality 182 x 67 mm monocrystalline cells. When sunlight strikes each cell, photons are absorbed and free electrons are generated. This produces direct current, which flows through the series‑connected cell string to the output leads.

Operating at maximum power point: Under standard test conditions, the module reaches its rated maximum power at 20.88 V and 4.79 A. A good MPPT charge controller tracks this point to harvest the highest possible power. Even with temperature shifts between -20°C and 65°C, the controller helps maintain stable charging efficiency.

Protection and power delivery: The EVA encapsulant seals the cells against mechanical stress and moisture, while the junction box houses secure connections. The IP67 protection rating helps keep dust and water away from critical contacts. Power then flows safely toward batteries, regulators, or inverters as part of the complete solar system.

This is the first stage of my three planned purches. I got the eg4 inverter 6000 XP base kit with six 400 watt panels and the two server rack batteries. Did a little online research and followed the instructions and it got set up without any issues. Right now I'm just running it in my garage on a single outlet and have been running dual 750 watt water distillers with it. Once I get the second inverter and a bunch more panels and batteries, I plan on attaching it to my subpanel in my house that has my lights and outlets and appliances on it.
