The SolarEdge CELL-A-R05-US-S-S4 Cellular Plug-in is a compact, plug-and-play wireless communication module that connects SolarEdge inverters directly to the SolarEdge monitoring platform via cellular networks — eliminating the need for on-site Wi-Fi or Ethernet infrastructure. Bundled with a 5-year prepaid data plan and operating on LTE Cat M1 across a broad 700–1900 MHz frequency range, it delivers continuous, five-minute interval telemetry for residential and commercial solar systems throughout the United States. Compatible with all SolarEdge inverters featuring a display, it supports both internal enclosure mounting and external installation for maximum deployment flexibility.

Key Features

5-Year Prepaid Cellular Data Plan: Comes pre-loaded with five years of cellular data service — no SIM activation, no monthly fees, and no internet provider required. An optional 12-year plan is also available for installations requiring longer-term, maintenance-free connectivity.

Continuous 5-Minute Monitoring: Transmits detailed performance telemetry from the connected inverter to the SolarEdge monitoring platform at five-minute intervals, enabling real-time visibility into energy production, system health, and fault detection from any device.

LTE Cat M1 Broad Frequency Coverage: Operates across a wide LTE Cat M1 frequency range from 700 to 1900 MHz, ensuring strong signal reception and compatibility with major US cellular carriers — minimizing dead zones and maximizing uptime in urban, suburban, and rural installations alike.

Outdoor Dual-Band Antenna: The integrated outdoor dual-band antenna is engineered for reliable signal acquisition in challenging environments, delivering consistent cellular connectivity regardless of installation location or surrounding obstructions.

Flexible & Simple Installation: Designed for effortless deployment — the plug-in can be installed directly inside the inverter enclosure or mounted externally as a standalone unit, accommodating a wide range of installation environments without requiring additional hardware or complex configuration.

How It Works

Once plugged into a compatible SolarEdge inverter, the cellular module automatically establishes a connection to the nearest LTE Cat M1 cell tower using the pre-provisioned SIM and data plan. It continuously collects performance data from the inverter — including power output, voltage, and fault codes — and transmits that data to the SolarEdge cloud monitoring platform every five minutes, where it can be accessed via the SolarEdge monitoring portal or mobile app.

Cellular Modem & Data Transmission: The built-in LTE Cat M1 modem connects to cellular infrastructure automatically upon installation, authenticating with the prepaid data plan and beginning secure, encrypted data uploads to the SolarEdge monitoring servers — no router, Wi-Fi password, or IT configuration required.

Cloud Monitoring & Remote Diagnostics: Collected data is processed on the SolarEdge platform, populating dashboards with energy yield, performance ratios, and system alerts. Installers and system owners can remotely diagnose issues, review historical production, and receive automated anomaly notifications without visiting the site.

Multi-Carrier Network Compatibility: By supporting a broad range of LTE frequency bands, the plug-in automatically selects the strongest available carrier signal in the installation area — ensuring robust, uninterrupted connectivity across diverse geographic locations throughout the United States.

EG4 off-grid base kit, Happy with my purchase.

This is the first stage of my three planned purches. I got the eg4 inverter 6000 XP base kit with six 400 watt panels and the two server rack batteries. Did a little online research and followed the instructions and it got set up without any issues. Right now I'm just running it in my garage on a single outlet and have been running dual 750 watt water distillers with it. Once I get the second inverter and a bunch more panels and batteries, I plan on attaching it to my subpanel in my house that has my lights and outlets and appliances on it. Then I'll get a soft start for my AC and blower and run it on my main panel.
