48V LiFePO4 Battery Banks for Off-Grid and Backup

48V is the standard bank voltage for anything above a small cabin system, and LiFePO4 is now the default chemistry: 80-90% usable depth of discharge, several thousand cycles, and far less weight per usable kWh than AGM. This page lists the 48V-class batteries and modules we stock.

Selection criteria

  • Usable capacity: Plan on 80-90% DoD for LiFePO4. The bank's usable kWh - not nameplate - is what runs the load overnight.
  • Charge profile: The inverter/charger must have a lithium profile and be settable to the manufacturer's voltages.
  • BMS protocol: CAN or RS485 communication must match the inverter; mismatched BMS is the most common commissioning failure.
  • Temperature: LFP should not be charged below freezing - plan temperature management if the bank lives in an unheated space.
