How It Works
The HGT460-72BB solar panel converts sunlight into clean DC electricity using high efficiency bifacial PERC monocrystalline cells. Each of the 144 half cut cells is designed to absorb direct light on the front surface, while the bifacial structure also collects reflected and diffuse light on the rear. When photons strike the silicon cell, charge carriers are generated and driven by the internal electric field, producing current and voltage at the module terminals. In standard test conditions, the panel reaches a maximum power of 460 watts, with a voltage at maximum power of 41.9 volts and a current at maximum power of 10.99 amps. Under more realistic operating conditions around 45 degrees Celsius nominal temperature, power stabilises near 342 watts. The module connects to compatible inverters through MC4 style connectors and weather sealed junction boxes, allowing energy to flow into grid tied, hybrid, or off grid systems for immediate use or storage.
Bifacial energy capture: The front side of the panel faces the sun and delivers the primary output, while the rear side collects additional light reflected from surfaces such as light concrete, gravel, or snow. This rear gain can significantly boost annual energy yield without adding extra modules, especially in open rack ground mount configurations with high albedo surroundings.
PERC monocrystalline cell operation: Passivated emitter and rear cell technology increases internal light trapping and reduces recombination losses inside each cell. As a result, more of the incoming sunlight is converted into usable electrical energy, improving module efficiency and performance in low light conditions such as early morning, late afternoon, or cloudy weather.
Thermal and electrical stability: The module is engineered to operate reliably between minus 40 and plus 85 degrees Celsius, with a Pmax temperature coefficient of minus 0.35 percent per degree Celsius. This controlled coefficient limits power loss on hot days, while the 1500 volt system rating allows long strings that minimise cable runs and DC losses throughout the array.
