How It Works
Each Sunstyle Solar Roof Shingle is built as a weatherproof roofing element with integrated monocrystalline PERC solar cells. Sunlight strikes the tempered glass surface and passes through to the high efficiency cells inside the shingle. The cells convert this solar radiation into direct current electricity, which is conducted through factory attached solar cables. Multiple shingles are wired together on the roof to form a solar array with the required system voltage and power capacity. The direct current power is routed to an inverter that converts it to alternating current suitable for household circuits. In this way the solar roof can power home loads, support battery storage, or feed surplus energy back to the grid, depending on the system design and local regulations.
Roof Integrated Energy Generation: The solar shingle replaces conventional roof tiles while sealing the roof against weather. When installed in overlapping rows, it forms a continuous surface that directs water safely down the roof slope. At the same time, the monocrystalline cells embedded in each shingle capture sunlight and generate electricity during daylight hours.
DC Power Collection and Wiring: Each shingle is equipped with 4 mm² solar cables of 800 mm length for quick series connection. The shingles are linked electrically to achieve the desired string voltage, up to a system maximum of 1000 V. Generated direct current is routed through string wiring toward combiner boxes and then to the main inverter location.
Inverter Conversion and Energy Use: The inverter converts incoming direct current into alternating current usable by standard building electrical systems. Converted energy can supply household appliances and lighting in real time, reducing grid consumption. Any excess production can be exported to the grid or stored in batteries, depending on the chosen system configuration.
