The Amso Solar AS3420-72 320W polycrystalline solar panel converts sunlight into usable direct current electricity. Seventy two polycrystalline cells are wired together inside a sealed laminate. When sunlight hits the cells, photons transfer energy to electrons within the semiconductor material. This process creates a flow of electric current which exits through the MC4 connectors. The generated DC power is then routed to an inverter or charge controller, depending on system design. The inverter converts the DC power to AC power for onsite use or grid export.
Voltage and current at maximum power are carefully defined for predictable performance. The panel reaches a maximum power of 320 Wp at approximately 36.8 volts and 8.7 amps. Open circuit voltage is 45.8 volts, while short circuit current is 9.19 amps. System designers can use these values to size string lengths and inverters safely. Photovoltaic Energy Conversion: Polycrystalline silicon cells absorb incoming sunlight and free charged particles inside the crystal structure.
