How It Works
The Photon Energy Systems PM0155 solar panel converts sunlight into usable electricity through its 36 polycrystalline silicon cells. When sunlight strikes the cell surface, photons transfer energy to electrons in the silicon, creating a flow of direct current. The panel is wired as a 36 cell string to provide a balanced combination of voltage and current suitable for common off grid and grid tie inverters. At standard test conditions the module produces 18.68 V at maximum power with a current of 8.48 A, yielding 155 Wp. An integrated IP67 junction box houses three bypass diodes that limit power loss under partial shading. Radox connectors and pre attached 1000 mm cables then allow easy connection to other modules in series or parallel. With correct mounting and orientation, the panel can deliver consistent energy across its 25 year performance life.
Photovoltaic energy conversion: Each 156 x 156 mm polycrystalline cell is formed from doped silicon layers that create an internal electric field. Sunlight excites electrons, which are driven to the cell contacts and collected as direct current. The cells are connected in series within the module so their voltages add, producing the 22.57 V open circuit voltage specified at standard conditions.
Module protection and encapsulation: The cell matrix is encapsulated between EVA layers and covered by 3.2 mm tempered low iron textured glass. This construction protects against moisture ingress, mechanical impact and thermal cycling. A PET back cover and anodized aluminium frame provide structural stability, helping the module maintain its performance within the specified degradation rate of around 0.8% per year.
System integration and power delivery: The panel connects into a string with other modules using Radox solar connectors and 1 m DC cables. Strings feed a charge controller or inverter sized to the 1000 V maximum system voltage and 15 A series fuse rating. The inverter converts DC into AC electricity for household loads or export to the grid, while the linear power warranty supports predictable output of 90% at 10 years and 80% at 25 years.
