This Upsolar UP-M390MH solar panel converts sunlight into direct current electricity using high efficiency PERC monocrystalline cells. Each of the 120 half cut cells is wired into a carefully optimized string layout to balance current and voltage. When the panel is exposed to sunlight, photons strike the silicon lattice inside the cells and release electrons, creating an electrical current. The generated current flows through the internal busbars and bypass diodes in the junction box, then exits through the MC4 connectors. The DC power is routed to an inverter, where it is converted into usable AC electricity for homes, businesses, or export to the grid. Thermal characteristics and voltage behavior are carefully controlled by Upsolar so stable performance is maintained over a wide temperature range.
PERC monocrystalline energy conversion: The panel uses monocrystalline silicon cells with PERC technology to increase light absorption and reduce recombination losses. An additional passivated layer on the rear of each cell reflects unabsorbed light back into the silicon, capturing more energy from every ray. This design enhances output under direct sun and also improves production in hazy or low light conditions throughout the day.
Half cut cell layout and current flow: Each full cell is divided into two smaller cells, forming a 120 half cell matrix that reduces resistive losses. Lower current in each cell string decreases internal heating and improves module efficiency and reliability. Integrated bypass diodes help limit power loss in partial shading, as affected cell strings can be bypassed while the rest of the module keeps generating energy.
From DC output to AC power: Electrical energy produced by the cells is collected in the IP68 rated junction box and routed through 4 mm² DC cables with MC4 connectors. The output characteristics include a 35.2 volt voltage at maximum power and 11.08 amp current at maximum power under standard test conditions. When connected to a compatible inverter, this DC power is converted into AC electricity that can supply loads, charge batteries in hybrid systems, or feed the utility grid.
