The EG4 WallMount 48V 280Ah Indoor Battery (MPN: EG4LP48V280AHIDWMBV2) is a 14.3 kWh wall-mounted lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) energy storage unit engineered for indoor residential and commercial installations where floor space efficiency and high-current performance are priorities. Built around 280Ah of LFP capacity at 51.2V nominal, the battery delivers 200A maximum continuous charge and discharge current, a 300A surge rating for 3 seconds to handle motor-start inrush loads, and 82.6 MWh of rated lifetime energy throughput across 8,000+ cycles at 80% depth of discharge. A built-in 200A BMS with integrated 600A busbars, self-heating function active below 32°F, onboard LCD touchscreen, dual fire arrestors, Emergency Stop (E-Stop) Rapid Shutdown (RSD), and CAN/RS485 closed-loop communication via EG4 Connect make this one of the most feature-complete 48V wall-mount batteries available for residential and light commercial ESS applications. 200A Continuous + 300A Surge — High-Current Performance: A 200A maximum continuous discharge current at 51.2V delivers up to 10.24 kW of instantaneous DC power to a connected inverter, while the 300A surge capability for 3 seconds provides the short-term inrush current required for starting large motor loads — well pumps, HVAC compressors, and refrigerators — without triggering BMS protection events or dropping connected loads during the high-current startup transient.

600A Integrated Busbars — Easy Parallel Expansion: The integrated 600A busbars inside the EG4 WallMount allow multiple batteries to be paralleled directly without external combiner hardware — simply connecting the batteries bus-to-bus with compatible parallel cables. The 600A busbar rating ensures the parallel connection point itself is never a current bottleneck even in multi-battery high-discharge scenarios, and the robust busbar construction eliminates the resistive voltage drops and connection failures that can occur with undersized external parallel lugs.

Self-Heating Below 32°F — Safe Year-Round Indoor Operation: LFP cells must not be charged below 32°F (0°C) — doing so causes permanent lithium plating damage that degrades capacity and cycle life irreversibly. The EG4 WallMount's integrated self-heating function detects when internal cell temperature drops below the 32°F threshold and automatically activates the heater prior to initiating any charge current — protecting cell integrity in unheated garages, utility rooms, or mechanical spaces that may experience sub-freezing temperatures in winter without requiring an external thermostat or manual intervention.

Dual Fire Arrestors + E-Stop RSD — Maximum Safety Compliance: Dual fire arrestors on the battery's vent path prevent any internal arc or thermal event from propagating flames outside the enclosure — a requirement for UL 9540A listing in residential applications with reduced installation separation distances. The integrated Emergency Stop (E-Stop) Rapid Shutdown function instantly de-energizes the battery's DC output terminals upon activation, satisfying NEC 2020/2023 §706 rapid shutdown requirements and providing first responders with a clearly labeled, immediately accessible de-energization point for fire and emergency access scenarios.

LCD Touchscreen — Real-Time Local Monitoring: The onboard LCD touchscreen displays real-time battery voltage, current, state of charge percentage, cell temperatures, BMS status, and fault codes directly on the unit — eliminating the need to access an inverter display or remote monitoring app to understand the battery's current condition. This is especially valuable during commissioning, servicing, and grid-outage backup scenarios where network connectivity may be unavailable.

EG4 Connect Closed-Loop Communication — Smart Inverter Integration: Via CAN and RS485 interfaces, the EG4 WallMount establishes a closed-loop BMS communication link with compatible inverters — transmitting real-time state of charge, cell voltage, temperature, and charge/discharge current limits to the inverter's firmware for fully coordinated, cell-level managed energy storage. This closed-loop protocol enables tighter charge voltage accuracy, automatic current limiting as cells approach full or empty state, and coordinated multi-battery balancing across parallel units — extending cycle life beyond what open-loop voltage-only charging achieves.

How It Works

The EG4 WallMount 280Ah operates as a 48V DC battery bank that connects directly to a compatible hybrid inverter's battery terminals. The inverter manages all DC-to-AC conversion, charge regulation, grid interaction, and backup load switching — while the battery's integrated BMS monitors and protects the LFP cells in real time and communicates state data to the inverter via the closed-loop CAN or RS485 link.

Built-In 200A BMS — Active Cell Protection: The 200A BMS continuously monitors individual cell voltages across all 16 LFP cells in the battery pack, measuring cell temperature at multiple points, and calculating state of charge and state of health in real time. If any cell deviates from safe operating parameters — overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, or over-temperature — the BMS opens the internal protection contactor within milliseconds, disconnecting the battery from the external circuit before any cell damage can occur. Active cell balancing during charging ensures all 16 cells reach full capacity simultaneously, preventing any single weak cell from limiting the usable capacity of the entire pack.

Parallel Operation via 600A Busbars: For systems requiring more than 14.3 kWh of storage capacity or more than 200A of continuous current, multiple EG4 WallMount batteries are paralleled by connecting their integrated busbars in a daisy-chain configuration using EG4 parallel cables. The BMS in each unit communicates with the other units and the inverter simultaneously — ensuring all parallel batteries charge and discharge in a balanced, coordinated manner with equalized state of charge across all units throughout the operating cycle.

Compatible Inverter Ecosystem: The EG4 WallMount communicates natively via closed-loop CAN with EG4 18kPV, 12kPV, and FlexBOSS21 inverters, and via RS485 with Sol-Ark, Victron, Growatt, Deye, Schneider, Luxpower, and Megarevo inverters using standard Modbus BMS communication profiles. For open-loop configurations with other compatible 48V inverters, the battery operates reliably using standard LFP voltage setpoints without the closed-loop link — providing broad compatibility across nearly all residential hybrid and off-grid inverter platforms on the market.

This is the first stage of my three planned purches. I got the eg4 inverter 6000 XP base kit with six 400 watt panels and the two server rack batteries. Did a little online research and followed the instructions and it got set up without any issues. Right now I'm just running it in my garage on a single outlet and have been running dual 750 watt water distillers with it. Once I get the second inverter and a bunch more panels and batteries, I plan on attaching it to my subpanel in my house that has my lights and outlets and appliances on it. Then I'll get a soft start for my AC and blower and run it on my main panel.
