How It Works — Installation Steps

The STRONGHOLD Butyl installs in three steps — no pre-drilling, no flashing, no sealant application required.

Step 1
Peel & Position
Locate the rafter using a stud finder or knock test. Peel the protective liner from the butyl pad on the underside of the attachment base. Position the base flat on the shingle surface with the foot centered over the rafter — ensuring the base does not straddle a shingle gap or overlap. If a shingle edge is unavoidable, add a butyl patch beneath (sold separately) to bridge the gap and provide a flat bearing surface.
Step 2
Press & Fasten
Press the base firmly onto the roof surface to ensure full butyl pad contact. Drive the two included #14 screws with sealing washers through the rafter-alignment holes into the rafter until the sealing washer seats flat against the attachment foot — snug but not overtightened (overtightening can deform the neoprene washer). If the rafter is missed, shift to the next hole pair; if missed again, drive all six screws for a fully rated direct-to-deck installation (4 additional screws required).
Step 3
Attach Rail Clamp
Attach the included NXT rail clamp to the butyl base's upright L-foot. Slide the NXT UMOUNT rail into the clamp's open channel slot and tighten to secure. The open-channel rail design enables wire management routing through the rail at each attachment point without separate wire clips. EG4 off-grid base kit, Happy with my purchase.

This is the first stage of my three planned purches. I got the eg4 inverter 6000 XP base kit with six 400 watt panels and the two server rack batteries. Did a little online research and followed the instructions and it got set up without any issues. Right now I'm just running it in my garage on a single outlet and have been running dual 750 watt water distillers with it. Once I get the second inverter and a bunch more panels and batteries, I plan on attaching it to my subpanel in my house that has my lights and outlets and appliances on it. Then I'll get a soft start for my AC and blower and run it on my main panel.
