LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) — 1 – 3 pallets
LTL freight is the default for 1 – 3 pallet shipments. PES contracts with SAIA, YRC, Estes, XPO, R+L, and Old Dominion as primary LTL carriers. Freight class 85 – 100 depending on panel weight (a 590 W bifacial pallet is ~1,500 lb; a 410 W poly pallet is ~1,100 lb). Typical LTL cost per pallet within the continental US: $180 – $450 depending on distance, with residential delivery, liftgate, and inside-delivery surcharges adding $100 – $300. Transit: 2 – 5 business days from Louisville KY to most CONUS destinations.
FTL (Full-Truckload) — 6 – 26 pallets
FTL freight becomes economical at 6+ pallets. PES contracts with regional and OTR carriers for FTL — the per-pallet freight cost drops by 40 – 60% vs LTL because the trailer is dedicated. The pallet discount model runs parallel to the standard PES contractor pricing model, with two adjustments: (1) panels are already priced at ~15% below single-panel MSRP because they ship on pallet, so the contractor discount on top is smaller (3 – 8% Tier 1); (2) volume tier and pallet tier discounts apply on top of the pallet base price, reaching 20 – 35% below single-panel MSRP for verified installer accounts at Tier 3.
