    Company Overview

Quick Mount PV was founded in 2006 by Stuart and Claudia Wentworth in Walnut Creek, California. The company emerged from the founders' experience as solar installers and general contractors who observed too many rooftop mounts that were doomed to failure due to poor waterproofing. The Wentworths pioneered the patented QBlock Elevated Water Seal, which raises the waterproofing barrier above the roof surface, and the resulting Classic Composition Mount became the industry's best-selling solar roof mount.

In September 2019, Quick Mount PV was acquired by Netherlands-based Esdec Motion Group, joining IronRidge and EcoFasten Solar to form the largest rooftop solar mounting and racking hardware group in the United States. Quick Mount PV continues to operate as a separate entity with its own product lines and sales channels, now managed alongside IronRidge. The company maintains its headquarters at 2700 Mitchell Drive, Walnut Creek, CA 94598, and its manufacturing is ISO 9001:2015 certified.

Quick Mount PV's market position is that of a premium waterproofing specialist. While other brands focus on rails and clamps, Quick Mount PV focuses exclusively on the critical interface between the solar array and the roof structure—the attachment point where water intrusion risk is highest.

    QBase Mount System

The QBase is Quick Mount PV's flagship base-and-post mounting system, representing the strongest off-the-shelf mechanical mount available. The base is cast from A360.1 cast aluminum with four gussets for structural reinforcement, supporting 2 or 4 structural fastener attachments. The QBase is available in mill, clear anodized, and bronze anodized finishes.

QBase posts are available in eight heights: 3.25", 4.5", 6.5", 8.5", 11.5", 12.5", 14.5", and 17.5". When combined with the QBase, the net height increases by 0.5". The QBase and posts are sold as separate SKUs in box quantities of 20 each.

    QBase variants include:

    • QBase Composition Mount (QMNC): For new construction or roof replacement on composition/asphalt shingle. Features a spun aluminum cone flashing (12" x 12") with no welds or seams. Average pullout: 3,031 lbs in Douglas fir; average shear: 1,972 lbs.
    • QBase Low Slope Mount: For TPO, PVC, EPDM, built-up asphalt, and other non-metal low-slope roofs. Attaches to wood, concrete, or steel substrates with appropriate fasteners.
    • QBase Universal Tile Mount: For tile roof applications, replacing a single tile with a flashed mounting base.

    QBlock Elevated Water Seal

The QBlock is Quick Mount PV's patented elevated water seal technology, which raises the waterproofing barrier up off the roof surface. By attaching the QBlock to an all-aluminum flashing, installation is fast and simple, requiring only a single bolt. The QBlock is integrated into the Classic Composition Mount and other attachment products.

    QSpacer

The QSpacer is a standoff spacer component used to achieve additional height clearance between the roof surface and the racking rail, accommodating various roofing profiles and insulation thicknesses. It integrates with the QBase system for projects requiring elevated mounting.

    Conduit Mount

Quick Mount PV's Conduit Mount provides a flashed, watertight support for conduit runs across rooftops. Designed to slide under roofing material and attach to rafters, it eliminates unprotected penetrations for electrical conduit routing. Compatible with standard EMT conduit sizes.

    Classic Composition Mount

The Classic Comp Mount remains the industry's best-selling solar roof mount, featuring the QBlock elevated seal on an all-aluminum flashing. Designed for retrofit installations on existing composition shingle roofs.

    QHook

The QHook is a tile roof hook attachment that slides under the tile without requiring tile removal or cutting. It attaches directly to the rafter and provides a raised mounting point for rail attachment.

    E-Mount

The E-Mount is an elevated mount for composition shingle roofs, providing additional clearance between the roof and the rail for improved airflow and wiring access.

    Recent Releases (2025-2026)

    Frequently Asked Questions

    1. What makes the QBlock Elevated Water Seal different from standard flashing?

The QBlock raises the waterproofing barrier above the roof surface rather than relying on a flat seal at the roof deck level. This means water shedding down the roof cannot reach the seal even if the flashing is compromised. The elevated seal is integrated with an all-aluminum spun cone flashing that has no welds or seams to rust or rot.

    2. Can QBase mounts be used with any racking system?

QBase mounts are designed with a universal post-top connection that accepts standard rack mounting hardware. They are certified for use with IronRidge XR Rail systems and are compatible with most major racking brands. The QBase uses a 5/16"-18 grade 8 cap screw for rail attachment, which is an industry-standard interface.

    3. What is the difference between QBase Composition and Classic Comp Mount?

The QBase Composition Mount (QMNC) is designed for new construction or roof replacement, where the flashing can be installed during the roofing phase as shingles are being laid. The Classic Comp Mount is designed for retrofit installations on existing roofs, where the QBlock elevated seal is installed through existing shingles without removing them.

    4. How does the QBase Low Slope Mount handle different substrates?

The QBase Low Slope Mount ships with 3" lag bolts for wood substrates. For concrete substrates, use 1/4" concrete screws. For corrugated steel substrates, use 5/16"-18 UNC machine bolts. The mount is designed to core through roof insulation to reach the structural substrate, with the core hole backfilled with insulation and sealed.

    5. Is the Quick Mount PV warranty transferable?

Yes. The 25-year limited product warranty is transferable to a new owner of the entire photovoltaic system, provided the mounting product remains intact in its original place of installation. The warranty may not otherwise be assigned or transferred.
